FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: method for alginate hydrogel preparation involves mixing of a solution containing a lipase with a solution containing a substrate hydrolysable with a lipase representing a compound of Formula I: , where R1, R2 and R3 independently are the same or different and represent a linear or branched C1-C12-alkylcarbonyl chain. The solution containing the said lipase or solution containing the said substrate also contains an alginate and a carbonate releasing divalent cations. The resulting hydrogel is suitable for immobilization of biological materials, preferably spermatozoa.
EFFECT: inventions allow better control of gelling reaction rate, amount of acid formed and, accordingly, the final pH value in the gel.
