FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the neutron detector, including: the body limiting the internal volume; the metal part, serving as the cathode; the central structure, located in the internal volume and serving as the anode; the boron coating on the cathode part and the electrical connector, functionally connected to the central structure for transmitting the signal, accumulated by the central structure. The detector is characterized in that, at least the part of the boron coating contains the boron atoms, embedded by thermal diffusion from the boron-containing powder to the cathode part. Some boron atoms - into the metal part, with the formation of the boron coating sensitive to neutrons. The invention also relates to the method of boron thermal diffusion.
EFFECT: detector has relatively thin uniform coatings from boron along the entire length with minimum trace amounts of other elements and compounds.
