FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: use for neutron capture therapy. Essence of the invention consists in the fact, that used in the neutron capture therapy beam formation element contains the beam input, the target, adjacent to the said target decelerator, surrounding the said moderator from the outside reflector, adjacent to the said moderator the thermal neutrons absorber, as well as a radiation shielding and the beam output, made in the said beam formation element; at that the target and coming from the beam input the protons beam, cause the nuclear reaction for the neutrons generation; neutrons generate the neutron beams, which define the main axis; the decelerator slows down the extracted from the target neutrons to the epithermal neutrons energy range; decelerator material is obtained from MgF2, or contains MgF2, and mixture containing Li constituting 0.1–5 % by weight of MgF2, at that, from the decelerator material in the form of powder or powder billet using the powders sintering technology by means of the powders device sintering, obtaining a block; reflector reflects deviating from the main axis neutrons back to the main axis to increase the epithermal neutron beam intensity; thermal neutrons absorber is designed to absorb the thermal neutrons in order to prevent excessive doses of exposure to normal surface tissues during the therapy; radiation shield is designed to prevent the neutrons and photons leakage in order to reduce the dose for normal tissues in the non-irradiated zones.
EFFECT: enabling the possibility to improve the neutron radiation source flow and quality.
