FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of preparing polyarylene diphthalides consists in carrying out the polycondensation of o-diketo-carboxylic acid pseudochlorohydrides of the formula , where R is a divalent aromatic (heteroaromatic) radical of the polyphenylene series, in acetone or N,N-dimethylformamide in the presence of alkali metal iodide or in N,N-dimethylacetamide in the presence of a complex catalyst based on Ni(0). The complex catalyst based on Ni(0) is formed by mixing zinc powder, nickel (II) chloride, triphenylphosphine and 2,2'-bipyridyl taken in a molar ratio of 3.1:0.05:3.1:0.05. Polyarylene phthalides are prepared, in which two adjacent phthalide groups are regularly alternated with the aromatic (heteroaromatic) fragment R in the polymer chain, connected to each other by C(sp3)-C(sp3) with a single bond.
EFFECT: good solubility of compounds in a wide range of organic solvents.
