FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing stereoregular polyarylene diphthalides of general formula I , RR(SS) and II , RS(SR), where Ar is a divalent aromatic radical of the polyphenylene series. The method for producing stereoregular polyarylene diphthalides consists in carrying out the polycondensation of chiral monomers - diastereomers of n-halogen-substituted 3,3'-diaryl-3,3'-diphthalides RR(SS) and RS(SR) (racemate and meso) in N,N-dimethylacetamide at a temperature of 70-90°C in the presence of a complex catalyst based on Ni(0) for 2-20 hours.
EFFECT: polyarylenediphthalides have a regular arrangement along the polymer chain of diphthalide groups of a strictly specified configuration and can be used in the production of heat-resistant structural materials, in particular carbon fibres.
