FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: compound is used as a motor fuel dope. The method consists in N-alkylation of para-anisidine with dimethyl carbonate at a mole ratio of dimethyl carbonate: para-anisidine 0.5-1.0:1.0 The process is carried out in the gas phase at a temperature of 180-260°C, preferably 180-220°C, in the presence of a dehydrogenation catalyst in a stream of nitrogen or hydrogen. The catalyst used in the process comprises wt %: CuO 10-60; NiO 0-40; ZnO 10-60; Cr2O3 0-20; Al2O3 - is the rest. The obtained product is extracted by rectification.
EFFECT: method allows to obtain a product with a yield relative to the para-anisidine and a content of the basic substance of at least 97 percent.
