FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of N-alkylaniline by reductive N-alkylation of nitrobenzene with alcohol on industrial catalysts of low-temperature conversion of carbon oxide (set NTK) at 150-300 C in hydrogen atmosphere. Mole ratio of the parent components nitrobenzene : alcohol : hydrogen = 1:(1-5):(3-10), respectively. C1-C8-Alcohols of normal, branched or cyclic structure can be used as alcohol source. Proposed method provides 100% of nitrobenzene conversion and 95-97% of the yield of N-alkylaniline as the end product. Method eliminates the stage of preparing the special catalyst but uses the ready industrial catalyst, ensures to decrease alkylation temperature as compared with the known methods where nitrobenzene is used as the parent compound and eliminates preparing mixture of amines.
