FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: material is formed by applying a force to a thermoplastic composition comprising a continuous phase comprising first and second additives in the form of discrete domains dispersed in a continuous phase. The continuous phase comprises a matrix polymer in which a plurality of micropores having an average cross-sectional dimension of from about 0.5 to about 30 micrometers is formed on and/or around the first domains and in which a plurality of nanopores having an average A cross-sectional dimension of about 50 to about 500 nanometers. The matrix polymer has a glass transition temperature of 0°C or more.
EFFECT: achieving a unique multimodal porous structure as a result of the use of specific types of inclusion additives and careful control over how such additives are dispersed in the polymer matrix.
