FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method of producing 1',5',6',7'-tetrahydrospiro [cyclohexane-1,2'-[2H] cyclopentapyrimidine]-4'(3'H)-one, which can be used for synthesis of biologically active compounds, in particular a medicinal substance of ipidacrin, capable of regulating neuromuscular transmission. The method consists in condensing cyclohexanone in a solvent with adiponitrile according to the following scheme: 
. The condensation is carried out by successive adding adiponitrile and then cyclohexanone to the solution of sodium tert-butylate in toluene, followed by isolation of the final product.
EFFECT: output is increased, the quantity of waste is reduced, and the time of the process is shortened.
