FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: multiphase flowmeter sensor is used to determine the physical characteristic related to the multiphase fluid flow in the multiphase flowmeter channel. The stationarity of the multiphase fluid flow is determined based on the detected physical characteristic in the actual conditions in comparison with the expected noise of the sensor in a steady flow condition. Variable of the flow model is selected from a plurality of flow model variables based on the gas content in the multiphase fluid flow and the detected stationarity. The multiphase fluid flow is then modeled by tuning the selected flow model variables.

EFFECT: providing a device and methods for adapting and tuning the calculation to determine the flow rates of a multiphase flow of multiphase fluids based on the flow regime recognition.
