SUBSTANCE: device is arranged for connecting to supply network for feeding at least one said electrode of electric energy with formation of electric arc for melting the metal mass. The device comprises an adjustment unit installed between said supply network and at least one said electrode, and connected thereto and designed to control at least one supply parameter of at least one said electrode, at least one detecting device designed for detecting at least one said power parameter and positioned between said electrode and said adjustment unit, a positioning unit arranged to move at least one said electrode, reducing or increasing the distance between it and the metal mass to be melted, and the control unit. Control unit connected to said adjustment unit, a power supply network and a positioning unit for controlling the control unit and the positioning unit and for performing control of electric arc over a first control channel by effecting on the adjustment unit, and for controlling the electric arc on a second control channel by effecting on the positioning unit.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to control melting power and characteristics of arc voltage and arc current efficiently to provide electric arc stability in the metal melting process, and to suppress disturbances induced in the supply network.
