SUBSTANCE: method comprises the steps of capturing transitional signals of the zero sequence current that lead and lag for 2 periods from the initial value using terminals installed at different locations on the power transmission line. The wavelet transformation and the recovery of the transitional signal of the zero sequence current are produced using terminals. Analyze the section where the fault place is located according to the integrated value of the approximation coefficients of the reconstructed detail components. The device contains a main station and terminals. The terminals are installed on the tower support of the overhead power transmission line or inside the cable network cabinet with circular organizing and connected to the main station via fiber-optic communication or mobile communication. The terminals receive phase current signals and generate zero sequence current signals. The main station which includes a fiber-optic communication module and a mobile communication module is installed in the substation or dispatcher center and receives signals transmitted by the terminals.
