FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: for audiometric diagnostics of sensorineural hearing loss due to functional perilimphatic hypotension, audiometric control of the patient's hearing acuity in a soundproofed room is performed. The initial thresholds for the patient's sound perception are determined by bone and air conduction throughout the tone scale. After that, the patient's intracranial pressure is increased by a single-time subcutaneous injection of caffeine - sodium benzoate (matein, guaranine) as a 10% solution in a volume of 3 ml or as a 20% solution in a volume of 1.5 ml. 45-55 minutes after caffeine administration to the patient against this background, it is determined whether his sound perception thresholds change or not according to air conduction on a tone scale at different sound frequencies. In case of a decrease in the patient's sound perception threshold by 10 dB or more at not less than two different sound frequencies, the patient with sensorineural hearing loss is diagnosed with functional perilymphatic hypotension.

EFFECT: method provides a high degree of diagnostic reliability and reliable diagnostic differentiation in patients with sensorineural hearing loss due to functional perilymphatic hypotension from the perilymphatic labyrinth fistula.
