METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF RISK OF RECURRENT BENIGN PAROXYSMAL POSITIONAL VERTIGO OF POSTERIOR SEMICIRCULAR CANAL Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61B5/484

Abstract RU 2634037 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: methodcomprises the following steps: 7 days after the resolution of otolithiasis, implemented using reposition maneuvers, the level of 25-OH vitamin D is determined and ocular vestibular myogenic evoked potentials (VMEP) are recorded. If VMEP asymmetry is less than 50% and the normal level of vitamin D is detected, the risk of recurrence is low. If VMEP asymmetry exceeds 50% and the normal level of vitamin D is detected, the risk of recurrence is average. If VMEP asymmetry is less than 50% and hypovitaminosis D is detected, the risk of recurrence is average. If VMEP asymmetry exceeds 50% or if there is no VMEP on the side of the lesion and vitamin D deficiency is detected, the risk of recurrence is high.

EFFECT: invention allows to predict the risk of recurrence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, taking into account the detection of risk factors for the development of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, and to assess the functional state of the otolith apparatus of the utriculus.
