FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely otorhinolaryngology. Performing a diagnostic manoeuvre, during which, unlike the prototype, the patient is laid on his side parallel to a horizontal plane from a sitting position for not more than 2 seconds, with fixing the head and neck directly relative to the body, and holding the patient in a given position for 30–60 s, after which the diagnostic manoeuvre is repeated on the other side, and the side of the lesion is determined from the side on which the vestibulo-ocular response occurs.
EFFECT: method provides higher diagnostic accuracy of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) with involvement of horizontal semicircular canal (HSC).
