FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: protective strip (1) includes several connected layers made of different materials and placed one on top the other. The first, the lowest, layer (3) is a sticky layer and is an adhesive by which the protective strip is fixed to a debit or credit card (2). The next layer (4) is made of paper, plastic or foil. It is designed mainly to support other layers. The third layer (5) is the carrier of the service information necessary for the operation of ATMs, but this information does not contain financial data about the card holder (2). This layer (5) can also be a carrier of misleading personal information about the card holder (2). Most often this is a magnetic strip. Then follows the protective layer (6) formed by the foil, or lacquer, or other material suitable for this purpose. The protective strip (1) is held on the part where the standard magnetic strip (7) of the card (2) is located, and covers the personal financial information recorded on it.
EFFECT: increase in the security of bank cards by combining layers of the bank card, designed to perform different functions in accordance with their purpose.
