FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: cooking surface with the illumination means comprises, at least, one transparent or translucent top panel located on the upper side of the said cooking surface. The cooking surface comprises, at least, one cooking zone and, at least, one control element for controlling the said cooking zone. The cooking surface comprises, at least, one transparent or semi-transparent layer. Several symbols are printed, applied, stamped and/or embossed on the specified layer. The symbol or image corresponds to the cooking zone, the control element and/or the working condition of the cooking surface. The cooking surface contains several elements of the light source, located under the top panel and the layer. The light source element corresponds to one or more symbols. One or more elements of the light source are activated if necessary by the user and if the corresponding cooking zone is activated or the corresponding operating state occurs, respectively. One or more light source elements are also activated if necessary by the user and if the corresponding control element is triggered. The symbols are completely invisible when the corresponding function is deactivated. The cooking surface comprises, at least, one on/off switch for activating and deactivating a portion of the said cooking surface, only those light source elements are activated, that are located in the said portion of the cooking surface.
