FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: swelling article comprises a matrix material, a peelable graphene material disposed in the matrix material, and intercalate disposed between the layers of the graphene-based material. The graphene-based material is functionally configured to expand, upon application of ultrasonic frequencies, to the graphene-based material and to facilitate swelling of the swelling article under the influence of the selected fluid by sorbing hydrocarbons in the fluid. Swelling allows the swelling article to interact with an adjacent structure.
EFFECT: facilitating the swelling of the article under the influence of fluid.
