FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the sliding element for an internal combustion engine equipped with a wear-resistant coating (10) which is located on at least one running surface of the sliding element, wherein the coating (10) from the inside to the outside has a carbide or nitride layer (16), a carbide-containing DLC layer (17) located thereon, a PVD-DLC layer (22) located on the preceding layer free from metal and a metal-free PACVD-DLC layer (18) placed on the preceding layer. In a particular embodiment of the invention, the sliding element is a piston ring.
EFFECT: sliding element is provided and improved with respect to combination of properties of friction and wear-resistant coefficients.
