SUBSTANCE: wake-up device (1) comprises a time recording means (2), a wake-up timer means (3), a controlled wake-up generating means (4), and a control device (5) for controlling the wake-up generating means (4). The wake-up generating means is capable of varying the intensity of the awakening stimulus. The awakening stimulus with a relatively low intensity is triggered at a predetermined time (t_A) ahead of the appointed time (t_WU) of awakening in such a way that the intensity of the awakening stimulus gradually increases in accordance with a predefined wake-up program. The wake-up device further comprises a sleep quality tracking means (10) for tracking the quality of the user's sleep and for generating a sleep quality tracking signal (S) indicating the quality of the user's sleep.

EFFECT: control device is responsive to the sleep quality tracking signal received from the sleep quality tracking means, with the possibility of adjusting the wake-up routine.
