FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns an ex-situ treatment method for a catalyst comprising, at least, one hydrogenating phase and, at least, one amorphous silica-alumina or a zeolite containing acid sites. The method comprises: a step of introducing nitrogen by contacting at a temperature of less than 100°C with, at least, one nitrogen-containing basic compound that is ammonia or a compound that decomposes to form ammonia. This compound is introduced at the rate of 0.5 to 10% (based on N weight) and a sulfonation/activation step with a gas containing hydrogen and hydrogen sulphide at the temperature of, at least, 250°C. This step is carried out before the step of introducing the said nitrogen-containing compound, and the resulting catalyst is optionally dried.
EFFECT: possibility of quick start, effective in the installation of hydrocracking.
