METHOD FOR LIMITED CHRONIC PLEURAL EMPYEMA SIMULATION Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G09B23/28

Abstract RU 2636177 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to study the mechanisms of formation of residual pleural cavities and the development of new methods for elimination of residual cavities in chronic empyema under experimental conditions. To simulate the residual cavity in chronic pleural empyema, an aseptic restricted cavity is created for male Wistar line rats by implanting a sterile latex ball with a diameter of 0.8-1.0 cm, filled with air and treated outside with a 70% solution of ethyl alcohol with talc. The ball is fixed with a vicryl ligature to the chest wall. At the beginning of the 4th week the ball is removed and the cavity is infected by injecting 0.5 ml of a suspension of a daily culture of Klebsiella pneumonia 105 Cfu. To ensure process chronization, therapy is performed for 10 days from the time of infection, including punctures of the infected cavity, washing with a 1% dioxygen solution and intramuscular administration of a subtherapeutic dose of cefazolin antibiotic at a dose of 20 mg/kg 2 times a day. On day 38-42, the animals are removed from the experiment.

EFFECT: creation of a model of limited chronic pleural empyema by chronicizing the inflammatory process at a high incidence of animal survival.
