FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for treating gas leaving after fermentation of CO. The method includes feeding the synthesis gas to the first fermenter, fermenting the synthesis gas with the Clostridium bacteria, obtaining the gas leaving the first fermenter, mixing it with the H2-containing gas in the amount effective to provide a mole ratio of H2 to CO, equal to 1.0 or more, feeding a part of the gas leaving the first fermenter to one or more subsequent fermenters. Moreover, the gas leaving the first fermenter contains 4 mol % or more of CO.

EFFECT: effective reduction of CO2 emission, increasing the yield of the product in one pass per unit of time and increasing the cell density.
