SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology. Disclosed are a method of controlling fermentation and a method of fermenting CO-containing substrates using acetogenic bacteria in producing ethanol. Method for controlling fermentation of CO-containing substrates involves monitoring the concentration of nutrients K, Mg, RO4-3, Fe, Zn, Ni, Co and mixtures thereof in a fermentation medium. Method for fermentation of CO-containing substrates involves maintaining concentration of potassium in a fermentation medium in range of 20 to 200 mg/l when the first medium containing nutrients is fed into fermentation at an effective rate to achieve cell density of 2 to 30 g/l.
EFFECT: invention increases output of the end product.
