FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of fermentation synthesis gas comprises feeding synthesis gas containing at least 10 mol. % CO in the reaction vessel to the fermentation medium, providing feed rate to the reaction vessel in a nitrogen quantity of about 100 mg or more acetogenic nitrogen per gram of cells contained in the fermentation medium and the fermentation of synthesis gas. Thus nitrogen is provided by ammonium hydroxide. The method provides an average conductivity of about 16 mCm/cm or less and a yield of one pass per unit (STY) 10 grams Ethanol/(l⋅day) or more.
