SUBSTANCE: electrolysis method is carried out in an electrolysis system that includes the first chamber comprising, at least, one cathode configured to electrolyse the first salt-containing aqueous stream and produce a product with a high pH; the second chamber comprising, at least, one anode configured to electrolyse the second salt-containing aqueous stream and to produce a product with a low pH; and a membrane between the first chamber and the second chamber, configured to allow passage of ions and to prevent the passage of water. The second chamber has an inlet in the anode, and the second salt-containing water stream is within at most 12.7 centimetres from the anode surface for a time of 1 second to 60 seconds for electrolysis of the second salt-containing water stream.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of electrolysis due to greater capacity, lower electric voltage, higher flow rates, lower cooling requirements for solutions.
