FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to a medical device intended to contact a living tissue comprising a base with an antimicrobial surface layer that includes gallous oxide with gallium content of at least 5 atomic % in the layer, and a method for its manufacture. The method for medical device manufacture consists in provision of a substrate with a surface and gallium compound application to said surface to form a layer comprising gallous oxide with gallium content of at least 5 atomic percent. %.
EFFECT: group of inventions allows to achieve antimicrobial effect of the surface and inhibit the formation of biofilms on the medical device surface, which can reduce the risk of infection, for example around a dental implant.
