FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: billet with a circular profile and with sections with a constant and variable cross section along its length is obtained from a heated initial billet. One of the areas with a constant cross-section has a larger cross-section. A polyhedral profile is then formed on the length of the noted section with a large cross section.
EFFECT: increased productivity and quality of the obtained profiles.
