FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the pressure metal treatment and can be used in the obtainment of hexagonal sections by radial forging. Hexagonal sections are obtained from a square blank in one conversion by two mutually perpendicular pairs of strikers. Strikers of one pair have a smooth work surface. Strikers of the second pair are made with a cut pass. Before simultaneous swaging with two pairs of strikers to form a hexagonal section, the blank is swaged alternately with pairs of strikers for an odd number of deformation cycles. After each cycle, the blank is rotated around the forging axis through an angle π/4. Each cycle includes at least two passes with rotation of the blank around the forging axis through an angle π/2. In odd cycles, swaging of the blank is carried out diagonally with strikers with cut passes. In even cycles, swaging is carried out with strikers with a smooth work surface. Even cycles end after obtaining on the blank the distance between the faces obtained by the strikers with a smooth work surface, not less than the diameter of the described circumference of the hexagonal section. Odd cycles end after obtaining an octagonal section with angles at its neighboring vortexs 120 and 150°.
EFFECT: provides an expansion of technological capabilities of the method, increasing the resistance of strikers and the quality of the sections obtained.
