FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the obtaining of hexagonal sections by radial forging. The forging is conducted by two mutually perpendicular pairs of strikers, one of which has a working surface with a flat stream. The second pair has a cut-out stream with lateral surfaces on the working surface inclined to each other at an angle of 120°. The working surfaces of the strikers are offset relative to each other along the forging axis by an amount exceeding the length of the working surface of the striker. First, the square workpiece is squeezed diagonally by a pair of strikers having a cut-out stream on the working surface, alternating with rotation of the workpiece around the forging axis at an angle of π/2. An octagonal section is obtained with corners at its adjacent vertices 120 and 150° and the distance between the opposite edges formed by bezels with angles between them of 150°, not less than the diameter of the circumscribing circle of the hexagonal section. Then the octagonal section is squeezed simultaneously by two mutually perpendicular pairs of strikers after its rotation about the forging axis at an angle of π/4.

EFFECT: reduced energy consumption, increased productivity, increased durability of strikers and the quality of the obtained hexagonal sections.
