FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: refractory material contains, wt %: MgO is 40 or more, free carbonaceous component is 4 to 30, one or more of B2O3, P2O5, SiO2 and TiO2 - 0.3-3 and the residue is at least one of the oxide component and SiC. The microstructure of the refractory material is a carbonaceous matrix, MgO-containing particles, and a void layer at the surface between the carbonaceous matrix, at least on opposite sides of one of the plurality of MgO-containing particles, and MgO-containing particle of maximum size. The sum of the respective thicknesses of the layer of voids in two positions on the opposite sides is 0.2 to 3.0% based on the size of the MgO-containing maximum particle size. An inorganic compound is present on the entire surface or part of each of the plurality of MgO-containing particles consisting of MgO and one or more components from the group consisting of B2O3, P2O5, SiO2 and TiO2.

EFFECT: providing, at least, the contact surface with liquid metal of said refractory material in the nozzle, the resistance to erosion, corrosion and thermal shock is increased.
