FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic resonance (MR) system includes, at least, one cable that has, at least, one fibre-optic component and an optical control unit associated with, at least, one fibre-optic component. The optical control unit is configured to determine the temperature in each of a plurality of positions along, at least, one fibre-optic component. The optical control unit is further configured to stop the operation of the MR system in response to, at least, one determined temperature. According to the invention, the temperature of one or more cable filters forming part of the cable can be monitored and a faulty cable filter can be detected.
EFFECT: detection of faulty cable filters without disassembling the cable, to which they are attached, detection of thermal spikes in the coils.
