FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to convert energy into magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) plasma devices, which include MHD generators of electric energy and MHD accelerators of plasma media. A capillary-porous electrode is proposed, consisting of closed housing with molten metal, which surface directed to the plasma is made of fibrous material in the form of porous metal fiber mats of metal with a melting temperature above the melting temperature of the melt metal, while the housing is connected with reserve capacity with molten metal. The capillary-porous mats are made of metal felt or represent a multi-layered lattice. The melt metal, the metal of the porous mat and the effective dimensions of its pores are selected according to the condition of the necessary supply of the melt to the mat surface due to capillary forces.
EFFECT: creation of capillary-porous electrodes for magnetohydrodynamic plasma devices which are not subject to degradation and renewable due to the replenishment of liquid metal from the reserve volume, which increases their resource.
