FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing a metal powder with water-soluble, metal-immiscible salt having a melting point higher than the melting point of metal. The resulting mixture is compressed to produce a compact sample in the form of a rod or a bar. The sample is heated, melted and dispersed by passing a short current pulse through the sample with a specified amplitude and duration. The resulting granules are placed after solidification into water to dissolve salt.
EFFECT: producing granules of foam metal with open porosity.
