FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: icing condition detecting device includes the first piezoelectric material (304) and the second piezoelectric material (305). The first piezoelectric material (304) has a surface (318) associated with the surface of the vehicle and is configured to vibrate. The second piezoelectric material (305) has a surface located near the surface of the vehicle and is configured to vibrate. The device also includes a vibration sensor (308) configured to detect the difference between the vibration frequency (312) in the first piezoelectric material (304) and the vibration frequency (313) in the second piezoelectric material (305).
EFFECT: invention improves the detection accuracy of ice formation on the aircraft surface.
