FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing briquettes for the production of silicon includes mixing the silica-containing and carbon-containing raw materials to produce a mixture and briquetting the mixture. The resulting mixture is mixed with molasses, while microsilica is used as a silica-containing raw material, and shale and wood dust are used as the carbonaceous raw material, the briquetting of the mixture being carried out by pressing at a pressure of 100 to 110 MPa, followed by annealing the resulting briquettes at a temperature of 200 to 250°C for 45 to 60 minutes.
EFFECT: high mechanical strength and increased porosity of briquettes.
