FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method of producing a sorbent includes grinding a carrier, which is a mixture of travertine and hedenbergite to the size of fractions of 1-3 mm, adding ferric chloride (III) to the mixture in the following ratio, wt %: travertine 9.00; hedenbergite 2.25; ferric chloride 88.75. The components are mixed with water, heated to a temperature of 40°C and an aqueous solution of concentrated ammonia is added to pH of 11. After mixing, the suspension is poured into a vessel, where a vacuum of 10 mbar is created. The produced product is washed with water with simultaneous filtration and dried at a temperature of 140°C.

EFFECT: increasing the sorbent capacity in relation to arsenic ions.
