FIELD: environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption materials for removal of compounds of heavy metals and arsenic from water. Method of producing sorbent comprises soaking porous support with aqueous solution of iron compounds while stirring, adding alkali solution or concentrated ammonia, washing and drying sorbent at 120-150 °C. Support used is vermiculite concrete milled to particle size of 0.25-8 mm, which contains (wt%): vermiculite from 6 to 20, cement from 24 to 40, sand from 50 to 70. Obtained sorbent contains iron oxyhydroxide in amount of 47-69 % on support.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a sorbent with high adsorption capacity and mechanical strength.
