FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: DNA-cytometric analysis is performed in a biopsy material of a rectal tumour before the beginning of a course of prolonged radiotherapy and after 10 sessions of radiotherapy, and the index of tumour proliferation is determined. If the proliferation index decreases 1.5 times or more, the efficacy of radiotherapy is predicted to be sufficient, and sessions are continued in full, if the tumour proliferation decreases less than 1.5 times, the efficacy of radiotherapy is predicted to be insufficient, and its sessions are terminated. Method application allows to predict the effectiveness of radiation therapy, individualize the tactics of treatment, improve the results of treatment of patients, the method is simple in execution.
EFFECT: method will allow to reduce the costs of ineffective treatment of rectal cancer.
