FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: in the biopsy material of the rectum tumour before the start of the radiotherapy course and 4 weeks after, DNA-cytometric analysis is performed and the tumour proliferation index is determined. The difference in proliferation indices of 1.3 times or less is an indicator for the end of the interruption in treatment and surgery performance. The difference in proliferation indices of more than 1.3 times is an indicator for prolonged interruption in treatment and surgery performance 6-8 weeks after the end of the radiotherapy course.
EFFECT: determination of the optimal period of surgery after the end of the radiotherapy course and reduction of costs for rectal cancer treatment.
