FIELD: pharmacology.

SUBSTANCE: composition contains: (i) a peroxide whitening agent containing a whitening complex of cross-linked polyvinyl pyrrolidone associated in complex with hydrogen peroxide, (ii) sodium acid pyrophosphate (Na₂H₂P₂O₇) in the amount of 0.1 up to 5 wt % based on the mass of the composition, (iii) less than 3 wt % of water based on the mass of the composition and from 1 to 2 wt % of tetrasodiumpyrophosphate based on the mass of the composition where the whitening complex is present in quantity of 5 to 12 wt % based on the mass of the composition, where the abrasive substance is calcium pyrophosphate, used in quantity from 12 to 37 wt % based on the mass of the composition, where ethylene oxide/propylene oxide block copolymer is present in quantity from 5 to 12 wt % based on the mass of the composition, where polyoxyethylene glycol is present in quantity from 5 to 15 wt % based on the mass of the composition and polyethylene glycol has an average molecular weight from 400 to 800 Da. A method of whitening teeth, including administration of the above composition to a mammal tooth surface, is proposed as well.

EFFECT: chemical stability of the peroxide in a single-phase whitening composition and the physical stability of the composition when cleaning and whitening teeth.
