FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: in the granular filter media, at least, the outer layer consists of granules of material based on diatomite and contains abrasive particles smaller than 100 microns, which are rigidly connected by sintering or by preserving the connected pores existing between the particles, wherein from 20% to 85% of the total volume of the exterior layer of the granules are the interconnecting pores. The granule consists of a core and not less than one shell, fused and/or sintered with the core and with each other, and the core has a spherical shape. Granules of the filtering material, the equivalent diameter of which is in the range of 0.3 to 6.0 mm, are formed from particles of diatomite rock crushed to 20-30 microns (kieselguhr, trefoil, flask, infusorial ground, etc.) and fired at a temperature of 700-1000°C, which ensures the sintering of the diatomite particles among themselves while maintaining the interconnected pores between the particles. Depending on the composition of diatomite, the composition of the granules can be added (to increase their strength by plunge in the firing process) with 0.1 to 10.0% of glass-forming oxides of alkali (sodium, potassium, lithium) and/or alkali-earth (calcium, magnesium, zinc, barium, lead) metals. For example, for vitrification of the granules made from diatomite of the Inzenskoe field, it is sufficient to add about 2% of sodium Na2CO3. After calcination, the granules, the volume of the interconnected pores of which is 65-70% of the total amount of the granules, and all the granules have the attitude of their longitudinal dimension to the transverse one of not more than 1.6, are divided by an equivalent diameter into 4 groups: 0.3-0.7; 0.7-1.7; 1.7-2.5; 2.5-6.0 mm.
EFFECT: improving the quality of the granular material and the efficiency of filtration and sorption processes.
