FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of the emulsions separation by filtration, in particular to the field of liquids cleaning of oil-petroleum products and organic substances. It can be used in oil-producing, chemical, petrochemical, food, pharmaceutical, machine-building and other industries, as well as in waste water treatment systems. Granules of a filter material for separating emulsions having an equivalent diameter in the range of 0.1 to 6.0 mm are formed from particulate diatomite particles and fired at a temperature of 700–1,000 °C, which ensures the sintering of diatomite particles among themselves while maintaining the pores existing between the particles. During the water cleaning of oil, the filtering fill is pre-filled with clean water, which fills the pores of the granules, creating zones that are not wetted to oil (disperse phase) at the pore outlet points on the granule surface. Only after that, commencing the water-oil emulsion filtration through the diatomite granules layer. Since in the course of filtration in pyramidal-like cavities between the granules the flow rate decreases sharply, the dispersed phase begins to settle on the protrusions of the surface of the granules (first of all, in the lateral cavities), gradually filling these cavities completely. During backwashing, the granules are displaced, the cavities spatial structure is destroyed, and the accumulated in the granules pyramidal-like cavities and on the surface dispersed phase is carried away by the washing liquid.
EFFECT: increasing the performance of the granules (id est, its quality) and, accordingly, the effectiveness of its use in the process of separation of emulsions.
