TRANSMISSIVE PHASE ANTENNA ARRAY MODULE WITH CONTROL DRIVER OF PHASE SHIFTER Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC H01Q21/00

Abstract RU 2641506 C1

FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: transmissive phase antenna array (FAA) module contains a base of the module in the form of a printed circuit board and elements of the FAA connected to the base of the module. On the base of the module in the space between the elements of the FAA drivers of the beam control system (BCS) are placed, made in the form of integrated circuits and electronic components. In this case, the printed circuit board of the FAA element can contain a cut-out between contact pads in which the BCS driver circuits and electronic components are located. The BCS driver circuit controls one or more phase shifters of the FAA elements by supplying to the control element of each phase shifter two different polarity voltage control pulses with adjustable durations and the interval between them, as well as controls the installed controlled phase shifts and controls the integrity of the electric circuits and phase shifters of the FAA elements.

EFFECT: possibility of controlling the phase shifters of the phase antenna array elements directly in the transmissive phase antenna array module with the pitch of arranging the elements of the phase antenna array allowing to ensure single-beam electrical scanning with maximum beam deflection angle from the normal to the phase antenna array aperture of at least 45 degrees, the use of such modules when building phase antenna array with a wide-angle electric beam scanning can significantly reduce the dimensions of the antenna system including the phase antenna array and the beam control system, make it much easier to switch the phase shifter control circuits of the phase antenna array elements by eliminating the long conductors connecting the phase shifters to the beam control system and, as a result, to increase the manufacturability of the assembly and the reliability of the antenna system as a whole, increase the gain of the phase antenna array by reducing the error of setting of the required phase shifts in the phase shifters, usage the transmissive phase antenna array modules in antenna systems with an amount of 10000 or more elements makes it possible to maintain the low attenuation introduced by the phase antenna array element due to the lack of the need to increase its length with a large number of elements in the phase antenna array module and maintain a high gain of the phase antenna array.
