SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a new ester compound of an alicyclic dicarboxylic acid represented by the formula (1), wherein each R independently represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The invention also relates to a method of producing esters of alicyclic dicarboxylic acid, including stages of the interaction of 4-isopropenyl-1-methyl-1-cyclohexene represented by the following formula (3), with carbon monoxide in the presence of hydrogen fluoride with the formation of fluoride alicyclic dicarboxylic acid represented by the following formula (2); and the interaction of the obtained fluoride alicyclic dicarboxylic acid represented by the following formula (2), alcohol with the formation of ester compound of alicyclic dicarboxylic acid represented by the formula (1).

EFFECT: resulting new ester compound can be used, for example, as a starting material for polyester resins.
