FIELD: pharmacology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions describes a composition for pain or inflammation treatment, a method for pain or inflammation treatment, a method for slowing, terminating, or regressing structural damage to tissue caused by a chronic inflammatory disease. The composition is characterized by comprising triamcinolone acetonide and a matrix based on a poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid. The methods of this invention comprise administration of a therapeutically effective amount of the composition to a patient. The group of inventions may be used to treat pain, including pain caused by inflammatory diseases, such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, and to slow, halt or provide regression of a structural tissue damage caused by an inflammatory disease, such as damage to the joint and/or periarticular tissues caused by osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.
