SUBSTANCE: cascade multi-level inverter is operated in fault shunting mode. Rather than relying on approximations or feedback forms, the reference voltages are generated as an analytical solution. The analytical solution and its implementation are not influenced by the inverter output frequency and can provide maximum possible balanced inter-phase voltage for the three-phase motor. In addition, the analytical solution provides accurate limits for permissible working area of the engine power factor.
EFFECT: prevention of overvoltage conditions in inverter sections.
