SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the state of visual functions in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) with the achieved target intraocular pressure (IOP). It is known that the achievement of target IOP does not always lead to stabilization of the glaucoma course. In many cases, glaucoma progresses even when the target IOP is preserved. The method for visual functions state prediction is implemented by examination of anamnestic data, ophthalmic status indicators, eye and orbital hemodynamics, affective status, lipid peroxidation-antioxidant protection (LPO-AOP) level in the blood serum and prognostic coefficient calculation by the formula indicated in the description, the magnitude of which predicts the visual functions state in patients with stages I, II and III of POAG with the achieved target IOP. Using the proposed method, an early diagnosis is performed in assessing the prognosis of the visual functions state, so that it becomes possible to prevent a decrease in visual functions and thereby prevent the development of blindness and bad vision in this category of patients.
