FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in accelerator technology or in geophysical instrumentation, for example, in pulsed neutron generators for the national economy when exploring wells using pulsed neutron logging. The accelerating system, delivering ions of heavy hydrogen isotopes to the target, alternately accelerates these ions to low energies, at which hydrogen isotopes accumulate in the near-surface layer of the target, then accelerates ions of heavy hydrogen isotopes to high energies sufficient for performing synthesis reactions on the target surface.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of the neutron generator due to the allocation of a large number of neutrons due to the accumulation of hydrogen isotopes in the near-surface layer of the target, increasing the stability of the neutron flux in the pulse.
