SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for early diagnosis of angioretinopathy in atherosclerosis and arterial hypertension. Carry out a photo-registration of the fundus. Determine internal caliber of retinal vessels by inscribing at given location into vessel lumen with circle diameter corresponding to perpendicular length between its walls. With the increase in caliber of retinal veins of the first and second order by 16–20 %, angioretinopathy is diagnosed in atherosclerosis. With the decrease in caliber of retinal arteries of the first and second order by 15–30 % – arterial hypertension.

EFFECT: method provides non-invasiveness, improvement of the quality of angioretinopathy diagnostics in patients with suspected atherosclerosis and arterial hypertension, an adequate choice of therapeutic tactics, control of changes dynamics in the fundus due to accurate assessment of retinal vessels internal caliber.
